Agartala: Aug 03: Tripura is witnessing a surge in dengue infection cases especially in bordering Sepahijala district’s Dhanpur area from where at least 158 confirmed cases have been reported in less than a week time said health officials here.
Meantime, more than 50 patients who condition was serious were shifted to the chief referral AGMC and GBP hospital in capital Agartala since 29th July informed Dr Sankar Chakraborty, superintendent of the hospital adding that one among those was shifted to the ICU as had abdominal pain but now condition of that patient is stable.
He informed that largely the patient are from one area that is Dhanpur in Sonamura subdivision and most of those infected are rubber plantation workers.
Meantime, as Bangladesh which surrounded Tripura from three sides is already declared dengue infested, so there is every possibility that the disease might spread from there and accordingly surveillance has already been in the the bordering areas which have been put in high alert.
As a precaution the state government has already setup dengue screening centers in all land ports with Banglasesh in order to ensure that no one with fever can enter into Tripura without being tested.
According to official data 2038 tests were conducted across Tripura out of which 158 confirmed cases and which is clustered mainly in Dhanpur.
It may be added here that reportedly one Subash Sarkar who was initially tested with dengue and admitted in a government primary health center at Dhanpur had reportedly died in a private hospital in Agartala according to the family members of the deceased person but government doctors said that there is no official confirmation since MAC-ELISA test was not conducted, moreover the cause of death might be comorbidity and about which information is being collected.
