Agartala, August 2: A four-day workshop focusing on nutrition and mental well-being for tribal students studying in Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) commenced at the conference hall of the state guest house in Agartala on Wednesday.
The sensitization workshop saw the participation of 58 attendees, including principals, teachers, hostel superintendents, and wardens from various schools and hostels in six states, namely Tripura, West Bengal, Sikkim, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland.
The primary objective of the workshop is to create awareness among teachers about effectively handling adolescent children aged between 10 to 18 years, studying in classes 6 to 12.
This crucial phase of adolescence is marked by various hormonal and bodily changes, and proper guidance is essential for them to navigate through this sensitive period and become responsible citizens.
Teachers play a vital role in shaping the future of students, particularly those in EMRS, who live in hostels away from their families and homes.
The workshop was inaugurated by Tripura’s Tribal Welfare Minister, Bikash Debbarma, and is jointly organized by the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) in collaboration with the National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS), under the Government of India.
