Agartala, June 24 : Chief Minister Manik Saha will inaugurate the week-long traditional Kharchi puja at Chaturdash Devata temple in Jirania subdivision, said MLA Ratan Chakraborty on Friday.
“This year, the traditional Kharchi puja is expected to draw huge devotees as all preparations have been completed. Spiritual personalities from Bangladesh and northeastern states are coming to join the festivities”, he said at a press conference.
Union Minister Pratima Bhaumik, Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb and BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee also remain present in the festival. He said the temple and its adjoining areas were illuminated on the occasion of festival and around 100 TSR jawans will be deployed to provide foolproofly security during the festival.
“As part of precautions, CCTV have been installed in the fair venue to keep close eye on the movement of devotees. Besides, there will be scouts and guides to help the mela committee”, he said.
Altogether 850 stalls will be erected in and around Chaturdash Devata temple and out of which a few will be government stalls, he said adding the mela committee has taken all possible steps to make distribution of stall in a transparent way. There will be bus service from Battala and Radhanagar for the devotees.
