Accordingly I with our officers, staff along with GRP and BSF searched the train as it entered Dharmanagar station. We found the five suspects and detained them. Later during preliminary interrogation it has been revealed that they are from Banglasesh,” said Sub-inspector (SI) of RPF, NR Das.
He added, “Out of five those arrested three are men while two are women.”
Though initially detained but were later arrested for entering Indian territory without any valid legal documents.
Those arrested were identified as Mohammed Rofique, Shafiqul Islam, Shahab Ali Sheikh, Momtaz Aktar, and Rozina Begum.
During interrogation they informed that for crossing the border they had paid 20,000 Taka (Bangladesh currency) per person to someone at Amtali in Bangladesh and had sneaked through the barbed wires taking advantage of the darkness, unnoticed by border guards on both sides.
