Addressing a gathering at Agartala Town Hall, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha stated that the implementation of the ‘National Education Policy’ (NEP) will bring about a groundbreaking transformation in India’s education system.
The Chief Minister said this during the inaugural program for the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 in various colleges, institutions, and universities under the Department of Higher Education in Tripura, as he highlighted the significant developments in the state’s education sector.
Vice Chancellors of various universities, principals of various colleges and institutions beside colleges teachers, educationists and senior officials of the concern department were present in the program.
He emphasized that this transformative change will also revive the country’s rich cultural heritage, making it an attractive destination for students from abroad.
Dr. Saha mentioned the establishment of universities such as Buddha University and a private university in the North district.
Furthermore, he emphasized that Tripura is gradually emerging as an education hub, with specialized universities including a Skill University, Law University, Sanskrit University, and National Forensic University.
The Chief Minister expressed his belief in the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to empower knowledgeable individuals to lead the nation.
He emphasized the importance of knowledge and stated, “Without knowledge, nothing is impossible.”
Regarding the National Education Policy, CM Dr. Saha mentioned the inclusion of a provision that focuses on India’s art, culture, and traditions.
He highlighted the efforts made by Vice-Chancellors and professors who have engaged in discussions with officials in Delhi to address the challenges faced during the policy’s implementation.
The Chief Minister acknowledged that initial stages of implementation often encounter difficulties but expressed confidence that the National Education Policy, with its target set for 2030, will yield positive outcomes.
CM Dr. Saha reflected on the past challenges faced by Tripura students when transitioning from state-specific guidelines to the national level.
He emphasized that the National Education Policy will standardize the education system across the country, ensuring that students no longer face such issues.
The Chief Minister expressed pride in Tripura’s children studying abroad but also emphasized the historical significance of India as a global center for learning.
He stated that the National Education Policy aims to rekindle that tradition and restore the country’s cultural legacy, making it an appealing destination for international students.
The implementation of the NEP is expected to revolutionize India’s education system and reestablish its cultural heritage, attracting students from around the world to pursue their studies in the country, concluded the CM.
