84800 bottles of contraband Eskuf cough syrup were seized by the airport police station in Agartala.The seizure was done from Ushabazar area close to the Bangladesh border Friday wee hours.
The joint operation was carried by SDPO NCC Paramita Pandey, officer incharge of Airport PS inspector Suman Singha and in presence of BSF.
The market value of the seized consignment is around Rs 3 crore and was meant for smuggling to Bangladesh where it is used especially as substitute for liquor.
The carton of contraband was hidden under sacks maize sacks in a lorry with West Bengal registration and parked in the Ushabazar area.
Police on suspect checked the vehicle and discovered the carton of contraband and seized the vehicle thought the driver and assistant are missing.
A case has been registered under NDPS Act and police are investigating to find who all are involved with the case.
