At least 21 BSF personnel in Tripura were hospitalized due to suspected food poisoning on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at the Latiapura border outpost (BoP) in Kailashahar, Unakoti district and the troopers are of 199 battalion of the BSF.
The affected personnel were admitted to government hospitals in north Tripura.
Kunal Minj, one of the infected BSF personnel said that the temperature of the day is very high and outbreak started after consuming food as they were experiencing symptoms like vomiting, fever, abdominal pain and loose motion following which 16 of them were admitted in this hospital but now their condition is better.
Meantime, according to Dr. Sankha Subhra Debnath an attending doctor from RGM hospital, 16 personnel were admitted here in the RGM Hospital, while five were admitted in the district hospital.
He added that although their condition is not critical, they need to remain hospitalized until they fully recover.
Again few more BSF personnel who had mild symptoms were provided with oral treatment and are currently in their BOP and doing well.
The district health officials have dispatched a team to the BOP to collect food and water samples served of the troops.
The team is also coordinating with BSF officials to conduct medical examinations of the kitchen staff to assess their health condition.
