In a rare incident at a hospital in Tripura, on Tuesday a tribal woman gave birth to conjoined twins who are joined at head.
According to doctor Kajal Das, medical superintendent of the Gomati district hospital where the twins were born, condition of both mother and the newborns are stable but under supervision.
He added that one Rebati Reang (25) of Balarampara under Karbook subdivision in Gomati district was admitted on 26 May last in the hospital with seven months pregnancy and during ultrasound sonography checkup it was detected that she was carrying a conjoined twins which is a very rare occurrence that happens one in 50 to 60 thousand cases.
Dr Das said that this is his first case of conjoined twins and informed that the twins shall need complicated surgery to get separated but it is not possible here.
The conjoined twins have joined heads, four legs, and four arms.
