Agartala: Apr 08: Covering more than 3500 kilometre and eight state the pan Northeast India car rally ‘Purvottar Bharat Parikrama’ that started from Kolkata had passed through West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and entered Tripura.
Headquarters Assam Rifles Alpha Range under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) organised a welcome ceremony for the car rally ‘at Agartala on Saturday.
The aim of the car rally is to augment bonhomie between the defence forces and the local populace and also to highlight the rich cultural heritage of North East India to the rest of the country.
The car rally also aim to bring a positive attitude of the youths of the north east by channelising their thought process towards nationalism and spirit of sacrifice for the country.
The rally participants paid homage to the fallen war heroes at Albert Ekka War Memorial and interacted with Ex Serviceman’s, Veer Naris, War veterans and NCC cadets of Tripura.
A motivational lecture was given by Kargil War Hero, Capt Yogendra Singh Yadav who also interacted with the Ex-Servicemen.
The team also motivated the local students and NCC cadets by distributing school bags and stationery items.
The rally was flagged off from Kolkata on 22 March by Lt Gen RP Kalita, General Officer Commanding in Chief, Eastern Command on the eve of Shaheed Diwas.
