Agartala: Feb 20: The Kalyanpur police handed over the main accused Krishna Kamal Das and Saroj Das, who were arrested in the Kalyanpur left activist murder case, to the Khowai District Sessions Court on Monday seeking a five-day police remand. The court granted three-day police remand to the two accused in the murder case of left activist Dilip Shukla Das.
In the details of the incident, it is known that on February 18, in Darikapur Girindsheel Para area under Kalyanpur police station, there was an argument between left activist Dilip Shukla Das and the head of Darikapur Gram Panchayat, Krishna Kamal Das. Later, the tension in the talk escalated to such an extent that BJP chief Krishna Kamal Das hit Left activist Dilip Shukla Das on the head with a piece of wood when a scuffle broke out between the two sides. Left activist Dilip Shukla Das was severely bloodied due to this. After hearing the screams of Dilip Das, the locals rushed to the spot. After informing the Khowai fire brigade, the firemen rushed to the spot and rescued the bloodied Dilip Das and brought him to the Khowai district hospital. The doctor on duty at Khowai District Hospital immediately referred him to GB Hospital for better treatment as his condition was critical. Later, Dilip Shukla Das died while undergoing treatment at Agartala GB Hospital.
As soon as the news of this incident spread to the area, the tension started to rise. On Monday morning, the police of Kalyanpur police station were forced to arrest BJP chief Krishna Kamal Das and his partner Saroj Das from their house for their involvement in the incident. On Monday, February 20, the police of Kalyanpur police station presented both of them to the Khowai District and Sessions Court seeking a five-day police remand. The court granted three-day police remand and sent him to police custody. Both of them will be handed over to the court again on February 22, said Abhijit Bhattacharya, lawyer for the government.
