Agartala: Feb 15: The polling process for the assembly elections in Tripura will begin at nightfall. State Election Commission Chief Officer Kiran Gitte visited Agartala Umakanta School premises on Wednesday to check all the election preparations.
Later, when he faced the journalist, he said that the Election Commission is determined to conduct zero violence elections. All arrangements have been made by the monitoring team to conduct free, fair and peaceful elections. He said that since Wednesday morning, the responsible poll workers have left for each polling station with the voting material.
He also said that the polling place has the facility of daylight and railings for the elderly. There is drinking water facility for the workers as well as the voters. He said that special electricity has been arranged in case of delay in the completion of polling and the system of irrigation has been added to the polling station. He said.
He also said that there will be 97 polling stations manned by women and some polling stations will be manned by street watchers. An Air Ambulance will be available at Agartala MBB Airport in case of any untoward incident around the polls.
He appealed to the people to come forward to vote at the polling station on this day. The Chief Officer of the Election Commission expressed his hope that no violent incident will happen throughout the day tomorrow. He said with a tone of conviction that 100 percent of the people will vote in the elections tomorrow.
