Agartala: Feb 14: Women’s Commission Chairperson Barnali Goswami was attacked by BJP’s Mahila Morcha workers while doing illegal activities in the run-up to the polls. The incident happened in Dharmanagar Jail Road area. Allegedly, he went to the old BJP functionary’s house in Jail Road area to distribute bribes for not voting for BJP candidate Bishwabandhu Sen. Allegedly Barnali Goswami was giving money to the constituency to win Congress candidate Chayan Bhattacharya who could not be a candidate himself. But at that time the Mahila Morcha workers of the area came to know the matter and surrounded Biswajit’s house and brought out the Chairperson of the Women’s Commission and Biswajit.
Then the Chairperson of the Women’s Commission and Biswajit were severely beaten. Barnali Goswami, the chairperson of the Women’s Commission, was injured in the beating of local Mahila Morcha workers. She cried and said that she had come to BJP worker Biswajit’s house on behalf of Bishwabandhu Sen. But conspirators from the opposition party in the area organized an attack on him by raising false allegations so that the votes of BJP can be wasted.
