Agartala: Jan 28: BJP has announced six more candidates for the Tripura assembly elections. After announcing 48 candidates in the morning, the BJP released the list of six more candidates in the evening. So far, BJP has announced the list of candidates for 54 constituencies. Only Agartala center candidate announcement is pending.
In a press conference at the party office in New Delhi on Saturday morning, MP Sambit Patra, the in-charge leader of BJP’s North-East, announced the 48 candidates. In the evening, six more names were announced in the second list. BJP has 11 women candidates and 23 new faces in its candidate list. Similarly, seven MLAs of BJP have dropped out in the upcoming assembly elections. It is believed that BJP will announce its candidate for Agartala by tomorrow.
A meeting of the Central Election Committee was held on Friday under the chairmanship of BJP All India President Jagat Prakash Nadda. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other members of the Central Election Committee. In that meeting, the candidate list for the Assembly elections in Tripura was sealed.
State President Rajeev Bhattacharya is contesting in Tripura assembly elections. He has been a candidate for 9-Banmalipur constituency. BJP MLA Mimi Majumdar from Abdarghat, Subhash Chandra Das from Nalchar, Biplab Ghosh from Matabari, Arun Chandra Bhowmik from Bilonia, Birendra Kishore Debbarma from Golaghati, Dr. Atul Debbarma from Krishnapur and Parimal Debbarma from Ambasa have not fielded BJP this time. .
