Agartala: Jan 25: CPIM has announced the list of candidates for 43 constituencies. 13 seats left for Congress. Out of the remaining four seats, the Left Front has reserved one for the CPI, one for the RSP, one for the Forward Bloc and one for an independent candidate (Tripura Human Rights Organization nominee and senior lawyer Purushottam Roy Barman from the seven Ramnagar seats). Left Front Chairman Narayan Kar made this announcement at a press conference organized at the CPIM state office at 7:30 pm on Wednesday. He said this time there are 24 new faces in the candidate list.
This includes two 10,323 dismissed teachers. They are Bamutia Constituency candidate Nayan Sarkar, Shantirbazar Constituency candidate Satyajit Riang. Also among the new faces is a leftist student organization SFI. He is the candidate of Kamala Sagar Constituency Hiranmoy Narayan Debnath. A candidate of Tribal Youth Organization i.e. TYF, he was nominated from Ampinagar Assembly constituency. Another TYF leader is Devendra Tripura. He has been nominated by CPI(M) from Julaibari constituency. On the other hand, ADC’s former education leader Rajendra Riang will contest from Kanchanpur. Meanwhile, 2 Mohanpur, 6 Agartala, 8 Baradowali, 9 Banmalipur, 14 Badharghat, 18 Suryamani Nagar, 19 Charilam, 28 Teliamura, 45 Kamalpur, 48 Karamchara, 53 Kailasahar, 56 Dharmanagar and 59 Pecharthal assembly constituencies are for the Congress and the CPIM. Other Left Front organizations did not field candidates. And this year opposition leader Manik Sarkar has stepped down from the fray. Kaushik Chand will contest from Dhanpur instead, Bhanulal Saha will not contest from Vishalgarh. Partha Pratim Majumder will fight from Bishalgarh.
Shamsul Haque has become a candidate instead of former Buxnagar MLA Saheed Chowdhury, Hiranmoy Narayan Debnath will contest from Kamala Sagar assembly constituency instead of former MLA Narayan Chandra Chowdhury. Ashok Mitra will fight instead of Badal Chowdhury from Rishyamukh Assembly Constituency, Devendra Tripura will fight instead of former MLA Joshvir Tripura from July House, Krishnendu Chowdhury will fight from Chandipur Assembly Constituency instead of former MLA Tapan Chakraborty, former MLA Mobasar Ali will fight from Kailashar Assembly Constituency.
