Agartala: Jan 21: Tipra Matha has called for a 12-hour bandh in Kamalpur subdivision on January 23 to demand the arrest of all the accused involved in the murder of Tipra Matha workers on January 18. In a press conference organized at Kamalpur Press Club on Saturday, the leader of Tipra Matha, Mary Debbarma, informed about this.
He said that after the death of Tipra Matha activist Pranjit Debbarma, when a funeral procession was organized to take the dead body from Kulai Hospital to Kamalpur, it was prevented without any administrative cooperation. And many workers of the Tipra Women’s Federation were injured in clashes with administrative staff, they alleged. Even today the subdivision was not allowed to hold any silent march. Therefore, it has been decided that a 12-hour bandh will be observed in Kamalpur on January 23 in Sub-division Surma Constituency and Kamalpur Constituency.
It will be banned in any form. A demand will be made to the administration so that the rest of the accused involved in this incident are also arrested. It is to be noted that Pronjit Namashudra was killed in the middle of the road in Bamanchhara village under Kamalpur police station and hacked to death with a sharp blade. Pronjit Namashudra Surma was once known as a CPIM leader in the assembly constituency. Seven months ago he joined Tipra Matha. He also started working in the assembly area for the Tipra Matha party. Around nine o’clock on Wednesday night, Pranjit Namshudra was traveling in his own Maruti van from Durga Chaumuhani Bazar to Yogesh Namshudra Para in Bamanchara Panchayat.
After coming to Bamanchara area, a gang of 7 to 8 people ransacked his car. and vandalized the car. Later, the miscreants hacked Pronjit and left him on the street, seriously injuring him. Police from Kamalpur police station went to the spot and rescued the injured Pranjit instead of taking him to Kamalpur Bimal Singh Memorial Hospital and took him to Kulai District Hospital. After about two hours, Pronjit was taken from Kulai District Hospital to Kamalpur Bimal Singh Memorial Hospital.
Then there is a drama between the police and the doctors over Pranjit’s body. Finally the doctor of Kamalpur Memorial Hospital declared Pranjit Namashudra as dead. His family broke down in tears at the hospital after doctors declared him dead. Baman Rham, the son of deceased Pranjit Namashudra’s brother, mentioned the names of several people in the area and said that they were the ones who hacked Pranjit Namashudra to death. Kumar Hallam, Mary Debbarma, Tapan Debbarma, and Shyamal Sarkar were also present in the press conference organized on this day.
