Agartala: Jan 13: On Friday, Deputy Chief Minister and Panchayat Minister Jishnu Dev Varma formally inaugurated 15 new Panchayat buildings and 108 Gram Panchayats and Village Committees through BSNL through virtual medium in the first phase. This building plays the most important role in providing civic services in rural areas. Central government allotted 15 panchayat buildings in 2020-21 and 29 panchayat buildings in 2021-22 for Tripura.
Out of these 44 buildings, a total of 15 buildings were officially inaugurated by him on this day. The Deputy Chief Minister congratulated the citizens, elected representatives and employees of these Gram Panchayats and Village Committees. Till now they had to run to their block office to get various online services. From now on they don’t have to. Rs 4 Crore 63 Lakhs have been disbursed till now from the Panchayat Department of Tripura Government for the construction of this building. The government has taken up the work of building not only ordinary libraries but also e-libraries in the panchayat buildings. A beautiful panchayat building brings a healthy and normal working culture. Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma expressed the hope that public representatives and employees from these buildings will bring the government much further.
He also hoped that in future these buildings will become the backbone of village level development and will play an important role in bringing government services to people’s doorsteps. He also said that Tristar Panchayat means District Council, Panchayat Samiti, Gram Panchayat and that the building in the Sixth Schedule area which plays the most effective role in getting the facilities of the people is the Panchayat Bhavan. On this day, finally, the Deputy Chief Minister released the report card of the activities of the Rural Development Department of the Tripura Government from the year 2018-19 till now. MDC Presiding Officer Nanda Riang, Panchayat Office Special Secretary Devendra Reang, BSNL GM Mukesh Kumar Gupta and others were present on the occasion.
