Agartala: Jan 12: The editors of CPIM West District Committee demanded from the West District Governor to make arrangements to open all CPIM offices in West District, arrange security for party workers and arrange campaign decorations to be put up properly before the announcement of elections. Later, CPIM West District Committee Secretary Ratan Das held a press conference at the CPIM district office on Thursday.
He said that since 2018 many offices of West District CPIM are not being opened. The CPIM West District Committee has met the West District Governor as per the pre-arranged schedule to open the party offices and conduct party programs in view of the upcoming assembly elections. And the incidents that have taken place in the last few years have been brought to the notice of the District Magistrate. He also said that the demand has been made for the security of these party offices. In the last five years, 50 party offices of the CPIM in the western district have been attacked several times. Mohanpur, Katlamara, Gandhigram, Kamalghat, Bamutia, Lefunga, Durgabari, Lembuchra Chhechuria and Panchabati CPIM offices were attacked many times led by local MLAs. These matters have been brought up to the District Magistrate and told how the opposition party will act if such an incident takes place. Jirania sub-divisional office, Krishnanagar office, Sachindranagar office, Nowabadi office, Belbari, Khumuluwng, Mandai party office are no exception.
Various party offices are not open in Jiraniya sub-division. There, the ruling party wants to attack the fascists and make an unopposed superpower. It cannot be protested. Not only this, the party office and former Khairpur MLA Pavitra Kerr’s house have also been attacked several times. The situation is the same in Sadar sub-division. Many offices including Ramnagar party office, New Nagar party office, Indranagar Laddu Chowmuhani office, GB Bazar office have been affected. Demands have been made for the re-opening of these offices. Not only has that, besides, demanded have been made for the release of the party offices which have been occupied by force. Mandal leaders, local public representatives and RSS workers are involved in these incidents. In addition to this, demands have already been made to the District Magistrate to allow the opening of three party offices. Among them is Dukli Sub-Divisional Office.
Mohanpur sub divisional committee to arrange opening of party office at Kamal Ghat. Not only that, even party leaders and activists have been attacked. Notable among these were raids on the houses of CPI(M) leadership Pavitra Kar, Dukli sub-committee secretary Narayan Dev, former MP Jharna Das. Security has been demanded with special attention to them. The District Magistrate has assured that he will make arrangements. But the District Magistrate has been informed to make arrangements so that CPIM offices can be kept open at all times.
The administrative officers have to give evidence in the work. It has also been asked to ensure that CPIM workers can reach the people safely in the area. Further demands have been made to the District Magistrate that election decorations are being vandalized for the past few days. Therefore, special measures should be taken to ensure that the election decorations can be properly installed at night. And Bharatiya Janata Party should take immediate action against those who are miscreants because there is no alternative system other than these to make the elections fair and peaceful.
