Agartala: Jan 06: Today 1,253 items have been distributed among 689 Divyangjans in West Tripura district. 58 lakh 99 thousand rupees have been spent on it. Pratima Bhowmik, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, said in a function organized on this occasion that the Divyangjans have an equal role as normal people like us in building a strong state. Without them, the development of the country cannot be complete.
He claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first to realize this. The Prime Minister gave them an honorable name in the society called Divyangjan, Divyangjans are an important part of the society. Proper development of any society is not possible if they are neglected. So he has announced various projects for their development and is also implementing them. Incidentally, today in Agartala Town Hall, artificial links Manufacturing Corporation and West District Social Welfare and Social Education Office organized various social empowerment camps among Divyangans for distribution of moving materials.
On this day, the Union Minister of State for Social Justice said, today, moving goods are being distributed among 689 Divyangans of West District in the Social Empowerment Camp here. There is a special joy in being able to do something for them by distributing this content. He said that our government is thinking more advanced ideas on how to make the living standards of Divyangans easier and simpler and implementing them.
According to him, the government has also arranged training in various schemes for the development of Divyangans and development of their talent. For their convenience, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also ordered provision of ramps and lifts in government offices in all states of the country. It has already been implemented in all the states of the country including our state. They have also arranged their unique certificates so that they can enjoy special benefits across the country, he said.
He also added that our government is working for the development of Divyangans by launching various projects. Better plans will also be taken so that the Divyang people can return to walking in a better way in the future. He also said in his speech that the more modern the moving equipment of Divyangans will be made by various companies, those companies will be given financial assistance up to 1 crore rupees from the government.
He claimed that our government is thinking about the elderly and retired people in the society and encouraging them to form self-help groups. One-time financial assistance of up to Tk 50,000 is also being provided to senior citizens to earn at home based on various handicraft programmes.
The Union Minister of State said that in our state also a self-help group has been formed with retired elderly people in Matabari block. They are currently earning good money by making clay pots. He said that 4 more DDRCs (District Disability Rehabilitation Centers) would be opened in the state for the development of disabled people. The centers will be in South Tripura, North Tripura, Khoai and Sipahijala districts. He said that social empowerment camps will be held at 75 places across the country on January 14 as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mohotsav. Among these, 1 such camp will be held in Tripura also with Unakoti, Khowai and Dhalai districts. Besides, on this occasion motorized tricycles will be distributed free of cost to physically challenged people on January 25. For this reason, physically challenged people should submit their names with necessary information to the local district magistrate office by January 14. He urged all physically challenged people to avail this facility. He said that the government is determined for the overall development of the Divyangans. That is why the government is ready to provide all services for them.
