Agartala: Dec 25: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha took part in the Christmas celebrations at Mariamnagar church in Khayerpur in the outskirts of Agartala.
He prayed in the church and also participated in the cake cutting ceremony for the Christmas feast along with local MLA Ratan Chakraborty, who is also the Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly.
Along with the people from Christian faith many others from other religions also took part in the celebration.A colourful culture programme was organised on the day.
Later speaking to reporters Dr. Saha said that though it is Christmas and a festival of the Christian community but in Tripura people from all faiths also participate and send the message of peace, love and humanity which is very important.
Meantime, local villagers many of whom are Portuguese, and the first Christian settler in Tripura expressed their happiness and appreciation as they celebrated the day peacefully here with other.
Many more expected that the gathering will be much more in the evening as a fair also takes place here on the occasion.
