Panchali Bhattacharjee, wife of former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Manik Sarkar, was injured in a road accident this evening. Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha has expressed concern. The Chief Minister spoke to Leader of Opposition Manik Sarkar over the phone.
Chief Minister Dr. Saha is currently in Shillong to attend a function of the North Eastern Regional Council. From there, the Chief Minister spoke directly to Neurosurgeon Dr. Siddharth over telephone and inquired about the medical condition of Panchali Bhattacharjee, who is undergoing treatment. The Chief Minister also spoke to Chief Secretary JK Sinha and directed Health Secretary Dr. Debashish Basu to visit the hospital and take necessary measures regarding Ms. Bhattacharya’s treatment.
At present, the condition of Mrs. Bhattacharjee is said to be stable. The Chief Minister has ordered to take the initiative, bring doctors from out of state if required.
