Agartala, December 8: Former militant leader Daniel Borak along with 29 other members of his group on Thursday joined the BJP here in presence of the party’s state president Rajib Bhattacharjee, state general secretary and incharge of Tripura and Assam Phanindranath Sharma, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder beside several other senior leaders in its state office at Agartala.
They joined the saffron party’s tribal wing Janajati Morcha under the leadership of Morcha’s state president Bikash Debbarma and vice president Patal Kanya Jamatia.
Later speaking to reporters Daniel informed that he along with other peace loving returnees have been inspired by the activities of PM Modi, state Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Tribal Welfare Minister Rampada Jamiat and BJP state president Bhattacharjee who are working for the development of the tribal section of people and so had joined the BJP party.
Daniel a former leader of the banned NLFT militant group informed that he had surrendered in the year 2004 and has been working for a NGO – Tripura United Indigenous Returnees People Council (TUIRPC) that works for the welfare of the returnees, surrendered militants, collaborators and the family members which consist of around 6000 people who have been demanding for fulfilling of the surrendered package declared by the central and state government beside withdrawal of police cases against them.
Meantime speaking to reporters during the joining program, Rajib Bhattacharjee, president, BJP Tripura Pradesh reacting to the incident of Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman and CPIM state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury sharing the same dais during a program at the Agartala Press Club a day ago said, “When was Congress and CPIM separate I don’t know because they always maintained friendship in Delhi while in Tripura were wrestling against each other. This is very well known to the people of Tripura though earlier it was little hidden but now openly they are revealing it. Congress is urging that alone they can not fight BJP while the CPIM is also saying that alone it cannot stop BJP in 2023 and so want to fight jointly with the Congress and as its partner.”
However the BJP leaders viewed that this not a matter of worry for the saffron party because its supporters are prepared and waiting for the assembly election.
“This is not a matter of worry for BJP because we are prepared everywhere and continuing our activities like Booth Vijay Abhiyan through which our supporters are ready to fight and win the 2023 election,” said Bhattacharjee.
Meantime on the poll results of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh the BJP Tripura chief viewed, “The Gujarat victory has created a record and of course it will boast the BJP supporters of Tripura for the 2023 election but in Himachal Pradesh our vote sharing has not much changed and the difference is also very small as we received 42.99 percent while our opponent got 43.90 percent of the vote share. It has been a trend since 1977 there that for five years one party is in power while another party comes to power after that and rule for the next five years.”
