Agartala: Dec 02: Assembly elections are imminent. And as the elections are approaching, political terror is spreading in the state. The police administration is unable to save its dignity. The opposition political parties are constantly calling the police as the servants of the ruling party. In the meantime, two months before the election, the Sadar Division Police held a formality meeting.
In order to prevent any untoward incident ahead of the assembly elections, Sakshi Gopal held a meeting with the representatives of various political parties at the West Agartala police station of the capital on Friday. The meeting was attended by representatives of various political parties, Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ajay Kumar Das, West Agartala Police Station OC Jayanta Dey and East Agartala Police Station OC Rana Chatterjee. In today’s meeting, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer directly spoke to the representatives of various political parties and requested everyone’s cooperation to avoid any untoward incident. In addition, he urged everyone to focus on the political program so that the common people do not face any kind of problem. In the meeting, the leaders of the opposition political parties complained that there is no rule of law in the state. The police are working for the ruling party. They demand to solve this problem.
After the meeting, Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ajay Kumar Das said that Assembly elections are ahead. Meetings have been held with the representatives of various political parties to ensure that there is no disturbance during the elections. A third round of meeting has been held regarding this. He urged the political parties to inform the police in advance before taking up any programme. He also said that if political programs are undertaken without informing the police in advance, problems arise. It is now a big issue that the situation will be monitored by the police before the elections.
