Agartala: Dec 01: CPIM blocked the main gate of Tripura police headquarters in Agartala on Thursday in protest against yesterday’s alleged attack on its supporters at Charilam in Sepahijala district by ruling BJP supporters and demanded immediate arrest of those involved with the attack. They also demanded that police immediately handover the body of CPIM supporter Sahid Mia who was killed yesterday and to his relatives.
CPIM state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury alleged that yesterday police had failed to provide security to the Opposition party supporters and in which one Sahid Mia had died, now to coverup their failure, today after the competition of the postmortem police is not handing over the body to the relatives of the deceased for completing the funeral services.
Chowdhury, a former MP, added that yesterday’s incident yet again revealed that there is no law and order in the state. He alleged that the state’s Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma is the mastermind behind the attacks at Charilam and who along with other BJP leaders from their headquarter office in Agartala had conspired the attack yesterday and in connivance with a section of police who ware working like party cadres.
Later the CPIM supporters removed the blockade as AIG IO Kishan Kumar had meet with their leadership and assured them of investigating and taking action against the police officers who didn’t handover the body of deceased Sahid Mia beside taking action against the perpetrators at Charilam.
