Agartala: Dec 01: A large rally was organized from the Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress office on Thursday to gheraoed the house of Chief Minister Manik Saha to protest the political clashes and deterioration of law and order in the state of Tripura. Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress in-charge Rajiv Banerjee, All India Trinamool Congress MP Sushmita Dev, Pradesh Mahila Trinamool Congress President Panna Dev, Pradesh Trinamool Students Council President Shivam Saha and other leaders were present on this day.
When the procession reached the Chief Minister’s house, the police harassed the Trinamool Congress workers and a scuffle ensued. In this context, Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress in-charge Rajeev Banerjee said, “Rape, murders are happening, Tripura is full of drugs, there is no development and the Chief Minister is going from house to house with posters of good governance to cover corruption. You have seen that we have repeatedly said that we are against political terrorism. Yesterday we saw that the victim of this political terror was a worker of an opposition political party. We apologize.”
During the rally, All India Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev said, “Today I will say that the way BJP workers are fighting with workers of other parties in various places right before the assembly elections, why can’t the government control these? We want Tripura state elections to be peaceful.”, the polls will be fought. I would like to ask Dr. Manik Saha that I see in the papers that everyday there are riots between different parties. Who has been arrested by the Tripura police? Why are they not being arrested because they are BJP workers? We want a peaceful poll fight.”
