Agartala: Nov 20: The traffic police force of Teliamura police station again achieved success in the anti-cannabis campaign. 161 kg of illegal dry cannabis in 28 packets was recovered from a 6-wheeled container cargo vehicle. The market value of which is estimated to be more than Rs 5 lakh. The incident took place on Saturday around 5:30 pm at Naka Point area of Hawaiibari under Teliamura police station.
According to the details of the incident, like other days, traffic police force of Teliamura police station is conducting routine vehicle checking at Naka point area of Hawaiibari under Teliamura police station. And during the checking of the police this afternoon, a container goods vehicle bearing the number WB 76 B 2306 was coming towards Teliamura from Agartala. But as soon as the police came to the Naka Point area of Hawaiibari, the police stopped the car on the side of the national highway and conducted a search and the traffic police have a great success. Total 28 packets i.e. 161 kg of illegal dry marijuana were recovered from the roof of the container car. The market value of which is estimated to be approximately Rs 5 lakh. Immediately, the container car and the driver Mohammad Jamirul Uddin (42) were arrested and brought to Teliamura police station. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Prasun Kanti Tripura rushed to Teliamura police station immediately after getting the news.
However, preliminary investigation by the police revealed that the car was brought from an area adjacent to the bypass of the capital under the guise of cannabis. The destination of the car was to cross Bihar. The police are said to be investigating a case under the NDPS Act in this regard.
