Agartala: Nov 18: The 17th Regional Saras Mela started at the International Fair Grounds in Japan from Friday. On this day Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the fair by lighting the lamp. The Chief Minister said that Tripura is the meeting place of people. A true example of unity in diversity is the state of Tripura. But the plotter is trying to create conspiracy in the state. They have no issues. But they are trying to discredit the current government.
They are promoting that there is no rule of law in the state. The state of Tripura has the highest number of drug seizures among the North-Eastern regions. The current government is running an uncompromising policy against addiction. Youth society is drowning in the sea of addiction, parents are worried. There is no fault of those who consume drugs. Those who are selling drugs should be caught. The source of addiction must be reached. The Chief Minister said that those who are running the drug trade from behind the scenes will not be spared.
Emphasis on women’s self-empowerment was not seen. Narendra Modi has emphasized on women empowerment since he became the Prime Minister because if women are financially independent, the development of the country is inevitable. The double engine government is working in that direction. He gave detailed information on how the number of self-help groups in rural areas has increased after the establishment of the current government.
He also said that political talk for the sake of politics is not good for democracy. It is better if opponents speak constructively. MLA Mimi Majumdar, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumdar, West District Zilla Parishad Chairperson Antara Dev Sarkar and other administrative officials were also present in the fair. Saras Mela will continue till November 30. On this day, the Chief Minister talked to the traders who participated in the fair and inquired about various issues.
