Union tourism, culture and DoNER minister G Kishan Reddy has said that the union Government under the leadership of PM Modi has deeply focused on to developing infrastructure of the North East region because, without infrastructure tourism sector will not grow. So, the Tourism ministry is organizing International Tourism Mart in all states of this region.
Minister Reddy was addressing the media this evening at Aizawl just hours before inauguration of the International Tourism Mart for North East Region, at Aizawl later this evening. Reddy said that Prime Minister Modi is keen on developing the region, as he always focused on development issues of North East in every cabinet meeting.
The International Tourism Mart is aimed at highlighting the tourism potential of the north-eastern region in the domestic and international markets, Minister said. He added further that the ITM is focusing on “priorities of G20 for tourism track”, since India will assume the yearlong Presidency of the influential group for a year from December 1 this year to 30th November next year.
He said there are also preparations of G20 meetings in North East and there will be event of states of the region on G20 meeting. He said that many kinds of connectivity development such as roadway, railway, aviation etc are going on in a massive way to develop the North East under the initiatives of several Ministries.The tourism ministry has been implementing number of developmental activities for promoting tourism under several schemes like PRASAD scheme, Swadesh Darshan etc.
