As CPIM, Congress and CPI complained and expressed their concern to Kiran Gitte, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura regarding the present law and order in the state and viewed that it is not conducive for conducting free and fair election, the ruling BJP says Opposition allegations are ‘flimsy’.
The issue were raised by the recognised Opposition parties during the all party meeting called by the CEO in the secretariat on Tuesday, a day ahead of releasing the draft electoral roll before going for summary revision for a transparency and error free electoral roll.
The Opposition also added that threats and intimidation to booth level officers (BLOs) by ruling party members is very common and they also raises question about the neutrality of a section of BLOs.
Meantime, the CEO informed that Tripura has achieved cent percent photo epic card and 94.23 percent AADHAR linking.
He added that the summery revision from electoral roll will start on November 9 and continue for a month period before releasing the final error free electoral roll before the scheduled assembly election scheduled in February next year.
Gitte also informed that already 50 percent of enrolled of names of the Mizoram Bru displaced people who are being repatriated in Tripura have been completed and by next month the process is likely to be completed.
As of now according to the draft electoral roll there are 27,33,891 votes in Tripura.
