A team of 230, consisting of 196 athletes from Sikkim left for Shillong, Meghalaya to participate in the 2nd Northeast Olympic Games which will be held from 10th to 16th November.
Out of 18 disciplines, Sikkim will be participating in 14.
Minister of Agriculture Department, Government of Sikkim, Lok Nath Sharma flagged off the players and officials and sent them off from the transport station.
For the first the players are representing Sikkim by wearing the Organic Sikkim Logo in order to publicise it.
President of Sikkim Olympic Association, Kuber Bhandari was also present to see if the officials and participants. Addressing the media, he said he is expecting that Sikkim will achieve a good result this time and will bring home medals in great number. Informing about the Organic Sikkim logo, he said that it will give an ethical message.
