Agartala, April 4: A 17-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a horrific road accident near the main gate of Tripura University on the Agartala-Sabroom National Highway on Friday.
Visuals of CCTV revealed that the accident occurred when the youth, riding at high speed, lost control and collided with a lorry.
The impact was so severe that he was crushed under the wheels of the truck, leading to his instant death at the scene.
Eyewitnesses immediately informed the Amtali police station and the Badarghat Fire Service Department. Firefighters and police personnel rushed to the spot, extricated the victim from under the truck, and took him to Hapania Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The deceased has been identified as Krishan Sarkar (17), son of Amar Charan Sarker, a resident of Rayermura Gabtali under Amtali police station.
Meanwhile, the lorry driver fled the scene following the accident. Amtali police have seized both the lorry and the motorcycle and registered a case. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the absconding driver.
Krishan’s body has been sent to the morgue for post-mortem examination.
